An estimated total of 231 Essential Energy customers will be affected by these outages.
While some of the power outswill be short, lasting only 30 minutes, others will range from five to seven hours.
As someworksscheduledon different days overlap the same regions, some households will experiencemultiple supply outages over successive days.
For instance, an area south-east of Frogs Hollow around the Candelo-Wolumla Rd will experience about sixhours of nopower eachdayfrom May 3-5.
Resident of this areaIan Gordon, a retired principal fromWolumla Public School, hasa mild disability and was concerned about being without power for three days.
“This means that people with disabilities and/or mobility problemswill be without computers, televisions, cooking facilities or electric heating/cooling for the whole day,” he said.
“While I only have some understanding of what isolation can mean, I know a lot of folk will suffer.
“For three days I’ll be without any kind of entertainment orfood.”
Essential Energy’s southernregional manager,Steven Ilitch, said the power outageover these three days wouldprovide an accredited service provider with safe access to the local electricity network to carry out upgrade works.
“Essential Energy has provided advanced notice to all customers affected by a planned power outage so they can make alternate arrangements,” he said.
The reasons for the other power outagesincluded upgradingthe electricity networkat Kanoona as well as maintenance and reconfiguration of the networkfor parts of south Wolumla, Frogs Hollow and Toothdale.
