The Warriors secureda 37-31 win against their arch-rivals.
It was set to be the game of the round with Stawell failing to win a game in the first three rounds while Ararat had been successful on just one occasion.
The game lived up to expectations with intensity at a high as the teamsbattled for the victory.
Ararat were the first side to falter, handingStawell a slight break.
But as the Warriors tried topullaway, complacency set in and the team gave up several easyturnovers.
New recruit Kellie Sommerville settled the young Warriors team in a best on court performance at centre.
Lisa Fleming played her role well and, despite giving away several inches in height to her opponent,she was able to use her athleticism to create intercepts.
Coach Toni Stewart said she was pleased withthe win.
“It was good to have a win in a goodteam game,” she said.
In other matches, Warrack Eaglesheld on to defeat Dimboola, Minyip-Murtoa were in a league of their own against Nhill and Horsham Demons got the better of Horsham Saints.
The Eagles took a slender four-goal lead into the final quarter against Dimboola but saw theRoos closethe gap early in the term.
The Roos were playing their best netball of the season, butfell just shy of a big upset.
The Eagles have a4-0 record to start the season.
Nhill was not given a sniff in its match with Minyip-Murtoa as the Tigerswerecompletely blown away in a 45-goal thrashing.
The Burras produced goal after goal in a match where they dominated all four quarters.
Kirby Knight was the best of the Minyip-Murtoa shooters, netting 43 times for the Burras.
Billie Bibby was named best on court for her drive and feeding in the mid-court.
Horsham Demons met Horsham Saints on Sunday.
The Demons were slick in attack and strong in defence in posting a comfortable57-29 victory.
Emma Buwalda netted 39 goals, but it was AlexandraHiscock who was named best on court. The Demons, Minyip-Murtoa and Warrack remain undefeated while Nhill are atthe bottom of the table.
