“When children withsignificant additional needs engage in frequent and intensive intervention they achieve the bestpossible social, emotional, behavioural and academic outcomes,” she said.
“We helpchildren acquire theirdevelopmental milestones and prepare for school in the best way possible.”
Fromthese observations –Star Kids Australia was formed.
The Star Kids program gives children aged 4-6 with additional needs the chanceto prepare for the school environment.
“Programs are developed and implemented by our transdisciplinary team of speechpathologists, occupational therapists and psychologists,” MrsGarnsey said.
“Star Kids hascombined the principals of preschool learning, functional and developmental frameworks and incorporates intensive therapy/intervention for the duration of the day.”
The daily routine involves group work, individual work, floor time and play.
“Children can enjoy gross motor activities in our fenced andsecure outdoor areas or find relaxation and stimulation in our specifically designed sensory room,” Mrs Garnsey said.
“We aim to give children the best possible opportunity to reach their full potential in asupported environment.”
Mrs Garnsey said children can enrol in two, three or five day programs running Monday to Friday between 9am to 3pm.
